Home Assessments and Modification
Our therapists frequently perform assessments at client's homes for those who have undergone changes in their physical or cognitive abilities from either injury or illness. We aim to increase the safety and independence of the client within their home environment, reducing their dependance on family/friends and community services.
The focus of a home assessment is to increase the client’s independence and safety. This may mean prescribing assistive devices eg. a rail or adaptive cutlery. It may also mean teaching the client a different technique eg. rolling onto side and using other leg to help get out of bed.
We coordinate with service providers such as OzCare, BlueCare and RSL Care. Many of our clients are DVA Gold and White Card holders. We follow up on our recommendations with the local suppliers of equipment, eg Phoenix Healthcare, to insure the most appropriate changes are made in a timely manner.
